The Royal Danish Embassy in Riyadh is looking for a dynamic and flexible Commercial Assistant (local staff)

The Royal Danish Embassy in Riyadh is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, dynamic, energetic and flexible Commercial Assistant.

The Embassy represents the interests of Denmark in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Yemen. The Embassy focuses on government relations, commercial affairs, support for Danish citizens, issuance of visas for travelers to Denmark and public diplomacy.

The Commercial Assistant works closely with the trade advisors at the Embassy and is also responsible for specific tasks related to newsletters, event planning and execution etc. Furthermore, the Commercial Assistant also contributes to other administrative tasks at the Embassy. The position requires an open mindset, flexibility, ability to multitask, prioritize within short deadlines and a strong sense of detail. The position does also include preparation and coordination of programs and content for the Commercial Advisor’s travel and meetings. Some official travel in the region should be expected.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Commercial Assistant

  • Planning, preparation and execution of events.
  • Coordination, preparation and publication of six news newsletters per year.
  • Managing all incoming and outgoing correspondence to the trade section.
  • Arranging meetings and appointments, making travel arrangements and preparing for incoming visits.
  • Liaising with governmental authorities, embassies and businessmen etc.
  • Handling of administration and compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Preparing Notes Verbales, translating and filing documents.
  • Back-up function in processing of visa applications during peak season.
  • Assisting with other tasks decided on an ad hoc basis.

 

Required qualifications

  • Degree in Administration, Management or relevant field for the position.
  • 2-5 years of experience from a similar position in a government related institution, embassy or a European company.
  • A positive, open-minded, pro-active, results-oriented and energetic attitude to handling of assignments.
  • A very structured mind-set and excellent planning and coordination skills.
  • Excellent command of English and Arabic.
  • IT proficiency.
  • Great interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently. Flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the Embassy.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under time pressure.
  • Have a high level of integrity including a strong understanding of the Danish zero tolerance on corruption.
  • Experience with the Schengen visa rules would be an asset.
  • Knowledge or experience regarding GCC Region, Denmark, the Nordic countries and EU would be an asset.

 

Employment conditions

  • This is a local position at Royal Danish Embassy in Riyadh which is compensated according to qualifications and local conditions. You will be offered a full time permanent employment on a local contract based on the relevant local staff rules at the Embassy.
  • Your standard working hours will be 40 hours per week .
  • You will be entitled to five (5) weeks of paid holiday per year, accumulating by 2.08 days per month.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.

  • You and your dependent family members will be offered reasonable coverage of sickness expenses.
